(1) To Disperse Negative Energy (Ball 132)

YOU WILL NEED
  • A dark stone

METHOD
Visualize a circle of light around yourself. Hold a dark stone in your hands. Place it over your solar plexus. Allow the negative emotion, perhaps anger and resentment, to flow into the stone. Try to decide what color the emotion is and identify the problem according to the Element Chart (Ball 131).

Raise the stone to your forehead. Then place it over your heart. (This helps raise the vibration to the correct level.) If it seems right, say:

        With this stone
        Negative be gone,
        Let water cleanse it
        Back where it belongs.

This reinforces the idea of the stone holding your anger. Concentrate and project all your negative emotion. (Anger, resentment, and so on) into the stone. Visualize it being sealed in. with all your energy, throw it into a source of running water.

It helps if you can get up to a high place to throw your stone away, since this way you are using Air as well.

(2) Pampering Potion (Chronicle 30)
This relaxation remedy is an excellent way to create personal space after a hectic week. This tincture is most potent on Goddess Freya's Day, Friday, by the light of the moon.
In a small pottery bowl or vial, preferably red in color, mix together the following essential oils with a small amount of base oil:
  • 2 drops cedar oil
  • 2 drops sandalwood
  • 2 drops ylang-ylang
  • 2 drops lavender

Face your window, close your eyes, lift your head to the moon, and recite:

Freya, eternal and wise, give your strength to me now. As I breathe, you are alive in me for this night.

Add the mixture to a mild carrier oil (olive or almond for example) and rub one drop on each pulse point: on both wrists, behind your ear lobes, on the base of your neck, and behind your knees. As the oil surrounds you with its warm scent, you will be filled with a quiet strength.

(3) Tranquility Spell (Chronicle 40)
For inner peace, take a walk in the woods, a stroll on the beach, or just relax in your backyard. Bring a stick, seven leaves from an ash or oak tree, several stones, and matches. With the stick, draw a circle on the ground and mark the four directions: North, East, South, and West. Place the stones at the center of the circle. Concentrate upon your connection to the earth and how to honor that in your life. Say:

Good luck rises for me in the east;
My music rises in the south;
My wishes rise in the west;
From the north, my dreams will come true.

(4) Blue Mood Balm (Chronicle 42)
For a dreary day and a dark mood, use the strength of the ancient unguent myrrh to release both mind and body. This desert plant produces a protective oil, which works as both sunscreen and moisturizer. Combine the following oils with either four ounces of unscented body lotion, or two ounces of olive oil or sweet almond oil:
  • 2 drops chamomile oil
  • 2 drops myrrh
  • 8 drops rosemary
  • 8 drops geranium

Shake the oils together and place in a corked pottery jar. Sit quietly in a room lit only by a blue candle, and rub the balm gently into your skin after a bath. Pray aloud:

Work thy spell to heal and nurse.
Blessed balm, banish my pain.
Harm to none and health to all.

(5) Bright Hall Effect (Feng Shui tip of the day)
February 20

In the Northern Hemisphere, today is sometimes called 'Hoodie Hoo Day,' a holiday started by the people at a dot com who were just as tired of winter as the rest of us. They devised and then copyrighted the content associated with this day and then advised that no matter where you live, no matter the location or the time zone, you can still enjoy the hoodie hoo energies. They tell us to go outside at exactly twelve o'clock noon and raise your hands high over your head yelling, what else, 'hoodie hoo!' These magical words are purported to push winter away while beckoning the burgeoning spring. If indeed you find yourself waiting and wanting another season to step up and replace the waning winter one while also finding that your energies are dragging and your thoughts are as dark and cold as the night then you might just need to boost your mood and, well, brighten up. The 'Bright Hall Effect' in Feng Shui says that you should always enter your home through your formal front doo r. And that you should make absolutely and positively sure that the hallway light is on as you enter. Be sure as well to replace the front hall light bulb with the highest wattage one that you can find and then be sure to use this little piece of big information to brightest and lightest advantage. Walking into this 'bright hall' will bring both a boost and a lift to your spirits and your Chi, an adjustment or cure that could quite conceivably put the spring back in your step!

(6) Aromatherapy: Bergamot and Patchouli (Feng Shui tip of the day)

Discovered on this day in 1930, the planet Pluto was first sighted by an astronomer named Clyde W. Tombaugh, the only American to ever discover a planet within the Earth's solar system. All the key words accorded to Pluto are much more Scorpion in nature than those caught in an Aquarian web as the energies associated with this planet mostly speak to death and rebirth and, then, finally, transformation. All things Plutonian are considered unseen such as sex and spirits, shadows and, well, death. Ultimately the lesson that Pluto strives to teach us is the one that says that in reality there is no safety in the falseness called a fixed identity. We learn that when reliable resources crumble right before us that we have our own internal ones that can help us to do more than just survive. It teaches that everyone everywhere affects the whole. That no matter how desolate or isolated any event leaves you, if you do the inner work and are true and authentic and stay in your own integrity, that that is the time when unknown guides and friends, teachers and mentors will come and find you. Astrology, astronomy and aromatherapy have an age old relationship and in some instances are almost inextricably linked. The oil associated with the pedigreed planet Pluto is just such a case. If you are feeling alone or bereft after facing an ending of any sort blend ten drops of essential oil of patchouli with 10 drops of essential oil of bergamot and drip some of these blended drops into a bowl full of steaming water. Allow the oils to permeate your space as you breathe in sweet relief. This Plutonic relationship will leave you feeling comforted and cared for.
