Spell - Cleansing a Place of Old Influences (Ball 71)
This spell incorporates
methods used in American Indian rituals. A smudge stick is a bundle of dried herbs that cleanse and clear the atmosphere to
make it suitable for a different purpose (see pg 250 in Ball). There is a knack to lighting the smudge stick, so we suggest
long-stemmed matches (and a healthy pair of lungs!).
YOU WILL
NEED
- A smudge stick
- An
oyster or sea shell (to help waft the smoke)
METHOD
Light the smudge stick. Blow
it gently until it is well alight. (It should be kept alight throughout the ceremony). Move clockwise around the house and
clockwise around each room in turn. Waft the smoke in front of you as you go. (Make sure you do this thoroughly, ensuring
that all the corners are included.) Repeat this action 3 times in each room:
I command negativity, fears, problems, habits and bad influences to be gone.
(2) Opportunity Will Knock
(Feng Shui Tip of the Day)
Standing inside the front entrance of your space,
light an incense stick or sage wand and walk the entire perimeter of your main floor in a clockwise direction, allowing the
smoke to waft into all corners. Be sure that the smoke clears and cleanses every corner of every room. Return to the entryway
once you've made one full pass around the main floor and allow the incense or sage to continue smoking and clearing from the
center of your space. Now take a small, round, hand held mirror and revisit those same corners. Walking in the same clockwise
direction, hold the mirror up until it reflects the top of each corner itself. Once you return to the front entryway stand
silently for a few seconds envisioning opportunities and fortune now permeating this entire atmosphere. Do this cleanse on
ce a month to keep negative energies at bay and the positive ones percolating. The mirror now needs to be soaked in salt water
for three days and three nights and then put away until the next time you decide to open your door to opportunity knocking.
This is one time where using smoke and mirrors will actually yield a true and magical result.
